To be friendly and respectful to others, we strongly encourage changing your nickname to include your real name and pronouns! Here's guide to changing your server nickname.
Once you're in our Discord with your nickname set, head into the #welcome channel to get started!
Start by setting your ideology. React to the very first message in #welcome with a white, blue, purple, or red heart to publicize your ideology to other members! Your name will change colors to match your ideology.
The second message in #welcome unlocks the power of committees! Add yourself to as many committees as you want, and you'll gain access to that committee's text chat and voice/video hangout.
React to the third message in #welcome if you want to share your year with others.
Head over to the #introductions-and-social to introduce yourself!
You can find a detailed set of rules in the Discord section of our club code.
Please be respectful of members and use each channel for its intended use. If you do that, you'll be fine!
For each channel, you can customize whether or not you'll receive alerts for new messages. If you want to be involved but don't want a specific channel (like #media-updates) to bother you, you can mute it! If you just want to stay updated, but not be bothered by memes and discussions, you can mute everything but #announcements and #general.
Here's a guide to how to change notification settings for channels.
